A bit about us.

We are a small, family-run business with over 35 years of experience caring for dogs. Over the years, we’ve gained extensive knowledge of various breeds and personalities, enabling us to provide exceptional care and understanding. As a smaller establishment, we are able to offer personalised attention to each dog, fostering trusting relationships and creating a warm, comfortable environment for our loyal four-legged guests.

Inside and outside.

Our spacious runs can accommodate multiple dogs from the same family and include an adjoining larger outdoor area, providing ample room for exercise and play throughout the day. Each run is designed to be safe and secure, allowing dogs to see one another without physical contact. The kennels are well-insulated and heated during the winter months, while open access to external runs during warmer weather ensures plenty of fresh, cooling air.

During their stay, dogs can enjoy short walks through our meadows, while all walks are varied and engaging. Whether it’s strolling, splashing in a nearby river, or spotting squirrels and peacocks, there’s something to entertain every dog!

Food

We provide a wide range of food options to satisfy even the fussiest eaters. From fresh meat and biscuit mixers to complete dog foods, tins, pouches, and an assortment of treats like Dentastix, Gravy Bones, Schmackos, and various chews, we ensure there is something to please every dog.

Our Philosophy

At Bishopston Kennels, we believe that managing stress is the key to a happy and successful stay.

We prioritise ensuring that our guests feel comfortable and cater to the unique personalities of every dog in our care. Each dog has its own character and may respond differently to a kennel environment, which is why we pay close attention to their behaviour—especially with first-time boarders—and adapt to their individual needs.

We have developed a structured daily routine designed to engage our visitors with predictable activities that build anticipation for exciting moments throughout the day. From the morning release of our peacocks from their adjoining pens to enjoying meals, treats and walks, every part of the day is thoughtfully planned. Dogs are creatures of habit, and a consistent routine helps them adjust more comfortably to being away from home.

We kindly ask that pet owners are open and honest about their dog’s behaviour. This allows us to determine whether they are suited to a kennel environment. While many dogs thrive during their stay, some may find boarding stressful, and their well-being is always our top priority.
